Colonic aka Human Brain Virus

This is a another hoax and seems to be based on a number of other hoaxes as well as a spoof/joke about a man infected with a computer virus.

The following message has been sent out by email. It is a hoax and this "virus" does not exist.

* WORM VIRUS INVADES FLASH! *

* PLEASE READ AND FORWARD THIS *

* YOUR FRIENDS AND LOVED ONES! *

*************************************************************

*** WARNING! *** A new virus has been unleashed that is more

destructive than Melissa, more malevolent than Love, and more

tenacious than a Jehovah's Witness!

The new virus was dubbed "Colonic" by the US Department of

Computer Security, which discovered the virus yesterday

morning. "Colonic" attaches itself to Flash "SWF" files, and

can be spread from infected browsers to uninfected Flash

sites in moments.

"Colonic" contains a hacker joke, called an "ASCII," that

says "This virus comes from Microsoff!!" It is believed to

have originated in Islamabad, and may have been paid for by

Osama bin Laden!

The virus does not do physical damage to the hard drive, but

infects the browser of the infected system. There, the virus

lays dormant until another Flash page is loaded. From there,

the virus flashes messages in white text, too fast for the

eye to see, and subliminally affect the brain on a

subconscious level. The messages include "Email me your

credit cards," and "Microsoft is evil," and "Send your

friends to infected pages." These subliminal messages cause

you to email your credit cards to the virus' creator, to

blame Microsoft for the world's problems, and to send your

friends to Flash pages infected with the virus.

This message is very important, and the virus must be

stopped, that is why we are sending this to you anonymously,

so that the message will get out and will not be squashed by

those who wish the virus propogated! Please don't think this

is a fake. If you do, you may have already been infected by

the virus! Please consult an "Exit-counselor" for possible

deprogramming!

Immediately send this message to everyone you know, then

delete every Flash file on your hard drive. Then, as added

security, disconnect your phone until the virus is cured!

Please ignore any messages regarding this supposed "virus" and do not pass on any messages regarding it. Passing on messages about this hoax on serves only to further propagate it.
